Whittingham is an intimate and affordable 55+ community in Monroe Township, New Jersey. Whittingham is adjacent to the newer Greenbriar community. The two communities share a clubhouse and are often collectively referred to as Greenbriar at Whittingham, though they have separate homeowners associations and different housing options. Whittingham is the smaller and more established neighborhood that was developed by Union Valley between 1986 and 1994. This fully developed community offers 600 residences, made up of single-family homes, attached townhomes, and condos.

There is much to attract residents to Whittingham, including its 30,000 square-foot clubhouse, wide variety of amenities and social activities, and close proximity to New York City, Philadelphia, Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore. The community staff also includes a 24-hour nurse and a full-time activities director.

Whittingham Amenities

Whittingham residents have full access to many fabulous amenities. The 30,000 square-foot clubhouse, which offers a full range of social and recreational activities, is the center of the community's country club lifestyle. Here Residents can gather in the library, play a game in the billiards and card rooms or meet for a meal at The Tap Room. Those who want to stay in shape will love the large state-of-the-art fitness center and aerobics studio, and hobbyists will make good use of the arts and crafts rooms. When it's time to relax, the indoor swimming pool, spa and sauna make home feel like a resort.

The Clubhouse at Whittingham also has an outdoor swimming pool for the warm summer months, and plenty of additional outdoor amenities. The beautiful 9-hole par-36 golf course spans 3,135 yards from the longest tees. There are also tennis facilities, shuffleboard and bocce ball courts, R.V. parking, and well-maintained walking and biking trails.

Whittingham Homes & Real Estate

Whittingham, developed by Union Valley, includes 600 homes in condos, attached townhome and single-family designs. The community association oversees the lawn care, snow removal and community maintenance.

Whittingham's condos are large, ranging from 1,200 to 1,400 square feet. They each have an eat-in kitchen often with a center island, a formal dining room, and one-car garage. They also include features such as fireplaces and patios or balconies. Whittingham's single-family homes are available in three models ranging in size from 1,140 to 1,280 square feet. They include many of the same features as the condos, such as fireplaces, eat-in kitchens, dining rooms and one-car garages.

The largest residences at Whittingham are found in the community's townhomes. These attached homes are arranged in three, four, or five unit rows and come in four floor plans ranging in size from 1,680 to 1,930 square feet. Townhomes include a loft complete with bedroom and bathroom, as well as a private courtyard behind each home.

Whittingham Lifestyle

The residents at Whittingham enjoy the luxurious active lifestyle found throughout the community. Residents can make use of the 9-hole golf course, tennis facilities, hobby and game rooms, fitness center, swimming pools, outdoor sports courts, restaurant and other recreational activities. Some clubs and activities include bridge, discussion group, travel club, computer club, photography club and much more.

Whittingham also supports a healthy social life with a wide variety of clubs and organizations. A full-time activities director is on hand to help residents make the most of all the community has to offer. The Whittingham staff also includes a 24-hour nursing service to help with residents' healthcare needs.

Area

Set in New Jersey's beautiful Monroe Township, Whittingham is centrally located and within close proximity to many popular destinations. Both New York City and Philadelphia are about an hour-long drive from the community, while Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore are approximately 30 minutes away. Whittingham is located within two miles of the New Jersey Turnpike and within easy access of other major highways, making it easy to take day trips or explore the surrounding areas.

Closer to home, it's easy for residents to find plenty of shopping, dining and recreational attractions. There are shopping centers, such as the Concordia Shopping Center, within a half-mile of the community. The Freehold Raceway Mall is only 15 minutes from home and offers over 100 stores, including several large department stores. The nearby towns of New Brunswick and Princeton offer theaters for the performing arts.
